Fukiage Garden

The Fukiage Garden was given its name in the Edo Period (1603 - 1868). The garden is home to the residential area for the Imperial Family, and is open for the public for New Years and on the Emperor's Birthday.

The Fukiage Garden is home to the Fukiage Omiya Palace which resides in the Northern most section and was originally the residence of Emperor Showa and Empress Kojun. The palace was known as the Fukiage Palace, and was the home to their child Empress Dowager until she passed away.
